Years ago in New York City, I visited the Whitney Museum of American Art. My Art career was in it’s early years. I wandered through the building enjoying the Art works displayed. Hopper’s, O’keefe’s, Pollack’s, then standing in front of an enormous red Rothko the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end.
One day I’ll be here, I thought to myself. In those days I was fueled by a self confidence that was a tad off the hook. It was a long time ago, life has cooled the flame somewhat and it was probably wishful thinking. But, a guy’s got to dream and I still have a long way to go in this life. Like Russell Wilson said to his teammates before winning the Superbowl “Why not us!” Well why not me? It’s not completely impossible. Is it?(tangled up in red…Hooper)
So, i’ll stick with this dream that one day before I leave this Earth my work will hang in The Whitney. It’s a long range goal and I am comfortable with the waiting. If anyone out there reading this can help place me closer to the steps of The Whitney with paintings in tow, feel free to lend a hand. In the meantime , it’s one step in front of the other, smelling the cherry blossoms along the way…Happy Easter!
